According to Ana Liza Solis, spokesperson and assistant weather services chief at PAGASA, as reported by Inquirer.net, the heat index in 2025 will be lower compared to 2024 in Luzon. This is because of the absence of El Niño this year. However, one should still prepare this coming summer to beat the heat, as we might experience a heat index spiking up to 50 degrees celsius.

Here are the top 3 tips from True North Construction Services:

Tip 1: Open Windows at the Right Time
Opening windows during the day helps to regulate the heat and improve the ventilation of our house. That is why it will help to open the windows in the morning to let the fresh air in. Similarly, closing the window in the afternoon, when the sun is at its peak, also helps to block the heat from coming in, thus regulating the room temperature.

Tip 2: Switch to LED Lights instead of Incandescent Bulbs
Traditional bulbs generate heat, while LED lights stay cool. Therefore, although bulbs do not actively improve temperature, it helps to have LED lights to lessen heat coming from our devices and machines. In addition, when choosing the right bulb for your house, pick white or blue to make our rooms visually cooler since our eyes associate blue and white with cold environments, like snow and water.

Tip 3: Use Light Colors on Walls and Roofs
Light-colored paints, especially white, reflect heat from the sun. This summer, we recommend using light colors to help keep your home cool this summer.
